Airport Authority Guidelines for Passengers Boarding Flights from 25 May

A day after Union Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri declared that residential flight activities will begin from 25 May, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) today gave a standard operating procedure (SOP) for airports for recommencement of domestic flights.

Travelers should compulasarily walk through a warm screening zone before entering the air terminal building and all must have the Aarogya Setu app on their mobiles. The app ‘will not be mandatory’ for kids below 14 years old.

“Airport operators must make appropriate arrangement for sanitisation of passengers’ baggage before entry into terminal building,” the AAI said in a statement.

AAI Guidelines for Passengers Boarding Domestic Flights

  • Travelers should wear masks and gloves.
  • Travelers should reach at air terminal well ahead of time. They should arrive at air terminal two hours ahead of time of flight time.
  • Sanitisation of things before entry into terminal. 
  • Those that don’t show ‘green’ on Aarogya Setu won’t be permitted to enter air terminal.
  • Aarogya Setu app isn’t compulsory for children underneath the age of 14 years.
  • At traveler touchpoints, staff to either wear face shields behind counter or put glass wall at counter.
  • Boarding will be done in batches to keep up social distancing.
  • Steady declarations about social distancing and different standards.
  • Passenger seating plan will be done in such a way to keep up social distancing among travelers using seats by obstructing those seats that are not to be used, with proper markers/tapes.

  • Papers and magazines not to be given in the Terminal building/Lounges.
  • Travelers will be permitted into the terminal building if their flights are within four hours.
  • All air terminal staff to wear PPEs and hand sanitisers for staff and traveler.
  • State governments and organizations need to guarantee public transport and private cabs for travelers and airline crew.
  • Trolleys won’t be permitted in the appearance or takeoff areas, with the exception of special cases.

Domestic airlines activities will continue from air terminals over every major city in the nation from 25 May, Civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri had informed yesterday.

All air terminals and carriers have been educated to be prepared to recommence tasks, the minister said on Twitter including that SOPs for traveler development are in effect seperately issued by the ministry of civil aviation.

India suspended all trips since 25 March when the government originally forced an across the country lockdown to moderate the spread of coronavirus. The lockdown has since been expanded thrice. The present lockdown will end on 31 May.

Domestic civil aviation operations will recommence in a calibrated manner from Monday 25th May 2020.

All airports & air carriers are being informed to be ready for operations from 25th May.
